A man was arrested on suspicion of ransacking a home in Seal Beach after he was spotted by police hours later wearing the alleged evidence -- women’s clothing.
Antonio Maitreye Nelton, 41, of Long Beach was arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property after police say he ransacked a woman’s beachfront home in the middle of the night Monday and stole about $100 worth of her clothes.
The woman reported the burglary Tuesday morning in the 1600 block of Seal Way. About four hours later on the other side of town, the same officers who took the woman’s report saw Nelton walking down the road wearing a pair of women’s tight, black dress pants and a green blouse, said Sgt. Philip Gonshak.
Meanwhile, police checked back with the woman, who confirmed that Nelton was wearing her clothes, Gonshak said.
Nelton, who is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
