SigAlert on 15 Freeway after big rig overturns in high winds
A big rig overturned on the 15 Freeway in Fontana amid high winds, the California Highway Patrol said Monday night.
The driver was transported to a hospital. His condition was not immediately known.
The CHP declared a SigAlert on the northbound 15 Freeway at Sierra Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m. while officers waited for a tow truck to move the big rig.
Television news footage showed big rigs pulled over, waiting out the winds in the Cajon Pass area.
Heavy winds were expected to blow across Southern California through Tuesday morning. Gusts in excess of 60 mph were recorded across many areas Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
