Videos captured the demolition of a power plant in Bakersfield on Saturday morning that left at least three people hurt.
One of the videos shows chunks of debris flying from the blast (at the 5:30 mark).
The victims were watching the demolition of the PG&E facility -- in which explosive charges were used to bring the structure down -- at a Lowe’s parking lot when they were hit by shrapnel, according to the Bakersfield Californian. The paper said officials were waiting to see if other victims went to emergency rooms.
ABC23 broadcast quoted a Kern County sheriff’s official as saying a 44-year-old man “suffered a complete amputation on one leg and a possible amputation to his other leg.”
