Suspect held in slaying of Torrance woman
Torrance police are investigating the death of a 69-year-old woman as a homicide and have taken a man found in her apartment into custody.
Responding to a call, police found the woman after 8 p.m. Saturday in her apartment in the 3800 block of 226th Street. They found the man, 47, there, injured.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the victim as Rafaela DeCass.
Torrance police said DeCass knew the man, but Lt. Mike Jezulin declined to identify the suspect or to provide details about how she died. The case, he said, was “still evolving.”
