Water-main breaks in Brentwood leave 50 customers without water
Two water main breaks in the Brentwood area Wednesday night have left about 50 customers without water Thursday morning, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
L.A. fire officials notified the utility about the incident at 9 p.m. and crew members arrived at the scene roughly 20 minutes later, said DWP spokeswoman Michelle Vargas.
One of the mains was an 8-inch pipe in the 600 block of Saltair Avenue that stretches from San Vicente Boulevard to Saltair Place. The other was a 6-inch pipe that serves Saltair Terrace, an offshoot of Saltair Avenue, Vargas said.
Utility crews were investigating the cause of the breaks Thursday morning and how much damage occurred, Vargas said.
[Updated 8 a.m. PDT Oct. 31: Water service was restored to customers as of 5:30 a.m., the utility said. Crews continued working to repair the street, which will “be restored to its original state by this afternoon,” Vargas said.]
