Sam Zell, $5 billion

Former Tribune owner and real estate mogul Sam Zell is the second-richest man in Illinois and the 324th richest person in the world with a net worth of $5 billion, according to Forbes’ 2017 billionaires list.

Casino and real estate magnate Neil Bluhm co-founded the real estate company that built Water Tower Place. He is also the chairman of Midwest Gaming. With a net worth of $3.2 billion, he is the fourth-richest person in Illinois and 603rd in the world, according to Forbes’ 2017 billionaires list. He is tied with Thomas Pritzker.
