Readers React: Voting rights for City of Industry property owners
To the editor: The article on the more than $326 million made by the family of Dave Perez, who stepped down as mayor of City of Industry in 2012, highlights the dangers of a city incorporated for industry that doesn’t allow the property owners any voting rights. (“City of Industry: What gives?,” editorial, April 29)
Property owners in Industry have suffered under extremely high taxes for decades knowing that the city was an ATM for the family in charge. Voting rights were strictly controlled by the city, which can lead to abuse.
In this day and age, this form of city government is unacceptable.
