Readers React: The FBI is ‘corrupt,’ journalism is ‘fake’ and the Fed is ‘loco.’ What institution is next?

To the editor: First it was the press (fake news). Then it was the Justice Department. Now it is our banking and financial system. By discrediting the institutions we’ve come to rely on, President Trump is paving the road for further, more draconian measures.

As stated in the book “Fascism: A Warning” by Madeleine Albright, Benito Mussolini knew that creating a fascist state was like plucking a chicken one feather at a time. We can certainly see that being played out today.

The Federal Reserve has gone “loco” because it is raising interest rates. So what next? Get rid of it? After all, it’s only been around since 1913, and it’s not an institution created by the Constitution.

About the interest rate increase, Trump said recently, “It’s not necessary, in my opinion. And I think I know about it better than they do, believe me.”

Does he think that he and his Treasury secretary can do a better job? Probably. After all, this is the man who once said, “Only I can fix it.”
