Santorum’s ‘Obamaville’ ad links Ahmadinejad with Obama [video]
Reporting from Washington — A new dystopian ad by Rick Santorum’s campaign, the first in a series titled “Obamaville,” takes one of the most cinematic approaches seen during the 2012 campaign in foretelling a future without a GOP victory in the presidential election.
The first in an eight-part series, “Obamaville” features the full repertoire of apocalyptic imagery. Creaking, dilapidated playground equipment, flashes of a crying baby and lengthy corridors with flickering lights accompany a grim narration predicting a possible future for 2014.
John Brabender, a senior advisor to Santorum, outlined the ad’s purpose in an interview with CNN.
“It will illustrate how radically life will change for the average American when we have out-of-control gas prices, the full impact of Obamacare and the daily nightmare of a nuclear-armed Iran,” he said.
Forty seconds in, the ad is at its most combative, showing a rundown television briefly flashing between an image of President Obama and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the narrator warns that a “sworn American enemy becomes a nuclear threat.”
Promised to be “more than a town, a cautionary tale,” the remainder of the series will be posted to Santorum’s campaign site.
