King, 68 and a former Democrat, has cast himself as a bipartisan figure to bridge the partisan divide that finally drove Snowe out of an increasingly strangulated Senate. GOP affiliates have shooed money into Dill’s race in an effort to break up the progressive vote between two candidates and push Summers over the top.
