Valentine’s Day is L.A.’s hottest wedding day. What about the rest of the year?

In the last decade, Los Angeles County couples have chosen Valentine’s Day for their weddings more often than any other day — by far. Here’s how other days compare.

Most popular

1. Feb. 14

Angelenos were four times as likely to pick this holiday for their wedding than the average day.

2. Aug. 8

About 1,000 couples were married on this day in 2008, about seven times as many as average. That could be because the numerical configuration 8/8/08 "marks an irresistible alignment of Chinese culture's most celebrated number."

3. Oct. 10

The date configuration of 10/10/10 motivated many Angelenos to marry, pushing up its ranking during the decade.

Least popular

1. Dec. 25

Perhaps predictably, Christmas Day was the least common day for weddings during the decade.

2. Feb. 4

Just 97 couples per year got married on this day.

3. Nov. 27

It must be the proximity to Thanksgiving.
