X-rays shed light on ancient scrolls
When Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, a library of burnt scrolls survived the disaster -- but were too difficult to unroll and read. Now, using an X-ray technique, scientists have managed for the first time to read the words on a still-rolled scroll.
