About 150 elementary school students, teachers, elected officials and community members gathered at Jefferson Elementary School in Burbank Friday to honor those who lost their lives in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
Attendees joined hands around the front of the school and bowed their heads for a moment of silence.
“The Jefferson Community wants to show the world that Burbank is united in doing whatever it takes to protect our children,” said Burbank Council PTA President Barbara Miller and Jefferson PTA President Michele Higginbotham in a statement.
Jefferson students also crafted paper snowflakes that will be shipped to Newtown, Conn. to decorate the new Sandy Hook Elementary School when it reopens in January.
