Three arrested in Burbank marijuana grow house bust

More than 1,200 marijuana plants — valued at more than $500,000 — were seized Thursday after police busted an alleged “sophisticated” grow house in Burbank.

Three people, identified as Burbank resident Michael Hutchinson, 53, Sherman Oaks resident Jeremy Mendelsohn, 26, and Simi Valley resident Michael Mosley, 41, were arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana, said Burbank Police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.

The investigation began on Sept. 11, after authorities began receiving calls about a “strong odor of fresh marijuana” coming from the 2100 block of Kenmere Avenue.

On Thursday, authorities served a search warrant at a warehouse on that block, where they discovered a sophisticated indoor grow operation, Losacco said.

The suspects were each being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and are due in court early next week.

At the behest of Burbank police, utility workers also responded to the scene, where they reportedly discovered several code violations, most of which were related to electrical wiring.
