Valley artifacts on display at Howard Museum

MAGNOLIA PARK -- A copy of the Articles of Capitulation signed at

the end of the Mexican-American War and several early water-main covers

will be on display at the Gordon R. Howard Museum as part of “A Patchwork

History of the San Fernando Valley.”

From 1 to 4 p.m. every Sunday in July and August, local history buffs

can catch a glimpse of what life was like for San Fernando Valley

settlers. The exhibit is free. The museum is at 1015 W. Olive St.

Photos and documents and paintings from as far back as the late 1800s

will be displayed in four full cases of memorabilia. Twelve historical

societies have contributed to the exhibit including the Burbank

Historical Society, the Campo de Cahuenga Historical Memorial Assn., the

Little Landers Historical Society and the Los Angeles History Slugs.

The Burbank Historical Society has contributed a painting of downtown

Burbank circa 1910, a photo of Dr. David Burbank and many other items of

local interest.
