MAGNOLIA PARK -- A copy of the Articles of Capitulation signed at
the end of the Mexican-American War and several early water-main covers
will be on display at the Gordon R. Howard Museum as part of “A Patchwork
History of the San Fernando Valley.”
From 1 to 4 p.m. every Sunday in July and August, local history buffs
can catch a glimpse of what life was like for San Fernando Valley
settlers. The exhibit is free. The museum is at 1015 W. Olive St.
Photos and documents and paintings from as far back as the late 1800s
will be displayed in four full cases of memorabilia. Twelve historical
societies have contributed to the exhibit including the Burbank
Historical Society, the Campo de Cahuenga Historical Memorial Assn., the
Little Landers Historical Society and the Los Angeles History Slugs.
The Burbank Historical Society has contributed a painting of downtown
Burbank circa 1910, a photo of Dr. David Burbank and many other items of
local interest.
