Molly Grubbs, the daughter of former Burbank residents Gary and
Glenda Grubbs, has accepted membership in the Golden Key Honor
Society at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg,
Miss.
She is a president’s list scholar and has also been inducted into
Phi Kappa Phi, Lambda Sigma and Omicron Delta Kappa national honor
societies.
Molly recent- ly was elected president of the Chi Omega sorority.
She sang the national anthem for the nationally televised football
game between Southern Miss and Texas Christian University in November
and the USM and University of Houston basketball game in February.
She graduated from John Burroughs High School in 2001.
Michelle Gatton of Burbank was named to the dean’s list at Harding
University in Searcy, Ark. Michelle is majoring in communication
disorders.
Mary-Alexandra Andrusco, a member of Burbank High School’s Class
of 2002, was elected homecoming princess at Cal State Northridge.
She is the daughter of Robert and Katherine Andrusco of Burbank.
She is a sophomore majoring in journalism and a member of Alpha
Omicron Pi sorority.
Edward J. Alcocer, 32, the son of Raul and Maria Alcocer of
Burbank, has been promoted to major in the U.S. Air Force. His
current assignment is director of operations in a reconnaissance
squadron.
While attending Burbank High School, Edward participated in the
Glendale Civil Air Patrol Squadron 27, the civilian auxiliary of the
U.S. Air Force, and achieved the rank of cadet commander and
completed primary pilot training.
Edward received a congressional appointment to the Air Force
Academy from former U.S. Rep. Carlos Moorhead. After graduating in
1989 from Burbank High School, he entered the Air Force Academy in
Colorado Springs, Colo., and graduated in 1993. He graduated from
U.S. Air Force Pilot training in 1998.
He has been flying RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft in the theaters
of Kosovo, Desert Shield, Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan),
and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Matthew Hirsh of Burbank was named to the 2003 dean’s list at
California Lutheran University.
Drew Alan Preston of Burbank was named to the dean’s list at the
UC Santa Barbara. Drew is majoring in pre-biology.
