THE GREATER LOS
ANGELES ZOO ASSN.
The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Assn. (GLAZA), as part of its docent
and volunteer programs, offers hands-on, behind-the- scenes
opportunities for adults and students. General volunteer
opportunities include helping at special events, working at the
children’s zoo and helping staff feed the animals. For more

BURBANK TEMPORARY AID CENTER
Burbank Temporary Aid Center, 1304 W. Burbank Blvd., needs
kindhearted people to interview clients or to work in the pantry
sorting food and preparing food packages for clients. Training is

PROVIDENCE ST. JOSEPH
MEDICAL CENTER
The Ralph M. Parsons Blood Donor Center at Providence St. Joseph
Medical Center needs blood donors. All blood donations will be used
to help patients in the San Fernando Valley. Donation hours are 8
a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

RETIRED AND SENIOR
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) seeks volunteers
55 and older to assist in various programs, including computer and
Internet assistance, the Simple Will Program, and free electronic tax
return assistance. Duties will include arranging and scheduling
appointments, arranging reservations, selling gift certificates,
collecting donations and mailing out paperwork. For more information,

BURBANK FARMERS MARKET
Volunteers are needed from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at the
Burbank Farmers Market at Orange Grove Avenue and Third Street.
Duties include checking on the farmers and stamping coupons. For more

NATURE DOCENT TRAINING
Volunteers are needed for the Burbank Nature Programs and the
Stough Canyon Center to lead hikes and workshops, help with special
events, design Nature Center displays and work as receptionists.
Training consists of four three-hour sessions covering interpretive
skills, plants, animals, Native American history and the habitats of
Verdugo Mountains. Training sessions are Wednesday nights and

PROVIDENCE ST. JOSEPH
MEDICAL CENTER
Volunteers are needed at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center to
assist in the emergency, marketing and foundation departments, and
with customer service at the information desk. Volunteers must be

BURBANK FIRE DEPARTMENT
Dedicated volunteers are needed to perform a wide range of tasks
within the Disaster Services Division of the Burbank Fire Department.
No special skills or training is required. All that is needed is a
willingness to help the community in the event of a disaster. Upon
acceptance, you will be registered as a disaster services worker with
the city of Burbank and will be issued a Community Disaster Volunteer
card. Volunteers can choose to participate as part of an Emergency
Response Team, attend monthly disaster training classes, and other

AMERICAN RED CROSS
Volunteers are needed for the American Red Cross of Greater Los
Angeles, to work the front desk at the Red Cross Service center, 1001
W. Magnolia Blvd. The task requires excellent phone etiquette,
customer service skills, typing skills and consistent daytime

Shop. Positions include visual merchandising, sales, cashiering,
pricing, sorting, steaming, back room organization, accounting,
administration, donation pickup and delivery, marketing, donation
procurement, event planning and implementation, training and

BURBANK POLICE DEPARTMENT
Volunteers are needed for Burbank Police Department Community
Outreach and Personnel Services. The program is seeking
community-oriented individuals who are willing to volunteer three to
four hours a week. The requirements are that those interested must
live or work in Burbank, have no felony convictions, be a U.S.
citizen, have medical insurance, pass a background check and graduate
from the Burbank Police Department Community Academy Class. For more

MEDIA CITY BALLET
Needs help with fundraising, membership drives, event planning and
production. Assistance with clerical administration, school outreach,
mailing, database input, sewing, painting and poster layout is also

PROVIDENCIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Volunteer assistance is needed with everything from reading a book
to a child, to running off and counting out copies for students to

BURBANK CHORALE
The Burbank Chorale seeks volunteers to help at concerts twice a
year -- two in December, and two in May. Help is needed ushering,
handing out programs, selling raffle tickets and serving

JOSLYN CENTER’S STAY-AT-HOME PROJECT
Volunteers are needed for the Joslyn Center’s Stay-at-Home
project. The goal of the project is to provide information to
seniors, their family and the community to prepare for successful
aging. Volunteers will be educated on issues of aging, available
resources and the necessity for planning for the future. For more
