Concert band gets grant from festival foundation

The Laguna Concert Band has received a $12,000 grant from the Festival of Arts Foundation in support of its mission to provide entertainment and music education.

Under the direction of music director Ed Peterson and associate conductor Pete Fournier, the all-volunteer group is made up of over 70 members from Laguna Beach and surrounding cities who are affiliated with Irvine Valley College Emeritus music programs, the Pacific Symphony and the Orange County School of the Arts, among other organizations.

The band and ensembles entertain at the Fete de la Musique, the Festival of the Arts and Pageant of the Masters, the Sawdust Art Festival, Art-A-Fair and civic functions and parades in Laguna Beach and surrounding Southern California communities.

The concert band will continue to celebrate its 15th anniversary with a concert at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Festival of Arts grounds and at 5 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Huntington Beach Summer Concert Series at Central Park.
