Women’s groups to hold panel discussion on career pressures

The Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach and the Laguna Beach branch of the American Assn. of University Women on Thursday will hold the second annual “Spirited Women, Successful Careers,” a panel discussion on the pressures facing professional women and the strategies they use to live balanced lives.

Two members of each group will talk about their personal and professional challenges as they moved ahead in their careers.

The panel includes Andrea J. Tenner, UC Irvine professor of molecular biology and biochemistry; Diane K. O’Dowd, UCI professor of developmental and cell biology; Barbara Crane, co-owner of Crane Investments; and Ellie Tipton Ortiz, owner of Laguna Beach Legal Document and Mediation Services.

Chairing the panel will be Barbara Hamkalo, professor of molecular biology and biochemistry at UCI.

The event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Woman’s Club, 286 St. Ann’s Drive, Laguna Beach. A $5 donation is requested. Wine will be available for $5 a glass.
