Pacific Symphony call to artists
The Costa Mesa-based Pacific Symphony, in preparing for its upcoming performances in late May and early June of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, has issued a call for artists to create art interpreting the composer’s final symphony or anything relating to Beethoven.
The Pacific Symphony will be taking submissions of artwork around this theme, to be considered for public display, from artists working in all mediums, Pacific Symphony officials announced in a news release.

Crystal Cove art show postponed
The Crystal Cove Alliance Art Council has postponed an art show and sale that was originally scheduled for Sunday because of rain in the forecast.
The new dates for the show — at the Education Commons in Crystal Cove State Park’s Historic District, off Coast Highway in Newport Coast — are March 24 and 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The show, titled “As Time Goes By,” will showcase art work depicting the landscape around Crystal Cove from how it looked from the turn of the previous century to modern day, CCAA officials said in a news release. All of the works will be available for purchase, including some inspired by historical photographs.
The release noted that a portion of the proceeds will benefit restoration, conservation and educational programming at the state park.
Visitors to the art show can park their vehicles in the Crystal Cove/Los Trancos lot on Coast Highway across from the main entrance to the park, and walk or take a shuttle to its historic district, the release noted.
For more information, call (949) 376-6200.
