KaraokeFest seeks the next King
Adults, children and Elvis impersonators who can sing have a chance to show their stuff.
The Orange County Market Place is hosting a qualifying singing competition at the end of the month for the chance to compete in a Southern California singing contest, KaraokeFest, Sept. 10 at the Los Angeles County Fair.
The competition looks for the best amateur vocalists in three categories: Crème de la Kids, for children under 17; Crème de la Crème, for adults; and Crème de la King, for Elvis tribute artists.
In the kids’ division, 24 children will advance to the finals to compete for a $500 savings bond for first place and 50 adults will compete for a $1,000 first-place prize. There will also be other prizes.
Kids’ signs-up are from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with the competition beginning at 11 a.m. Aug. 20, 27 and Sept. 3.
Adult registration is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the competition beginning at 1 p.m. Aug. 20, 21, 27, 28 and Sept. 3.
Elvis tribute singers can sign up from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with singing starting at 11 a.m. Aug. 21.
Registration is $5 a person and all competitions are at the Orange County Market Place, 88 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa.
