Susan Losey saw a cat crawl out from under her house and was surprised to look and see tiny orange kittens all nested together. Spice, Nutmeg, Frosty and Itsy were pulled from the cold, bottle-fed and hand-raised.

Most orange kittens are male, but there are three females and a male in this litter. If anyone is interested in kittens for the holidays, you should not wait to apply to adopt.

Spice, Nutmeg, Frosty and Itsy will be ready to take home the first weekend of December but can be seen from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Fashion Island Pet Adoption event sponsored by Russo’s Pet Experience for pre-adoption.

Community Animal Network’s concern was not only just for the kittens, but for the mom cat that ran away. Cats can produce three litters of kittens in a year with the average litter being five. The network hopes to coax her back with food to trap her and have her spayed.

C.A.N. thanks all those who have donated during this difficult time. Last week C.A.N. received $50. So far, it has raised $1,396 from local people helping to safeguard the organization’s future.
