The city of Costa Mesa is helping organize a new arts festival next month in South Coast Collection.

ARTventure, described as a “fusion of the arts and entertainment,” is being billed as the city’s first-ever juried arts exhibition. It takes place Nov. 13 to 15, at the 3303 Hyland Ave. center. Admission is free.

Cisco Home, one of the event’s sponsors, will use its showroom to display the artist submissions that include works from various mediums, from oil paintings and sculpture to jewelry and photography, said city spokesman Tony Dodero.

The city received more than 100 artist submissions for the contest.

With help from the city’s Cultural Arts Committee, ARTventure is also sponsored by South Coast Collection and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

Events start on the 13th at 5:45 p.m. with opening remarks from city officials and live jazz entertainment. The awards ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m.

On the 14th and 15th, events go from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On the 14th, they include performances by award-winning guitarist Ruben Gonzalez and a demonstration from a graffiti artist and local chefs.

On the 15th, the festival will include appearances from the All-American Boys Chorus, based in Costa Mesa, and Davis Magnet School’s after-school Lego engineering and robotics team. Children’s author Ryan Rector, 10, and her father, Clarence, will discuss community literature from 3 to 5 p.m.
