‘Dig Pink’

The Irvine Valley College women’s volleyball team will play Golden West College in “Dig Pink,” an Orange Empire Conference match for a good cause. Proceeds from the 6 p.m. match at Irvine Valley College, 5500 Irvine Center Drive, will go toward breast cancer research. A $5-donation will get you a pink T-shirt and a pink spray cleaner.

Shabbat Service

Documentary Screening

The city of Costa Mesa and the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Support Group, will host a screening of “Patrol Base Jaker,” an independent documentary film about the 2009-2010 deployment to Afghanistan of the city’s adopted Marine unit, the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines. The film will be shown at 7 p.m. at the Triangle Square Cinemas in Costa Mesa. The film’s director, David Scantling, will appear for a discussion after the screening, along with Marine Col. Robert Castellvi, who is based at Camp Pendleton. Proceeds from the event go to the 1/5 Support Group and “Socks for Heroes.” Tickets for the film viewing cost $20 and $25 for a package that includes the movie ticket, popcorn and a soda. Homage to The Dude

“Joe Forkan — The Lebowski Cycle,” a painting exhibit, is at Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavilion, Orange Coast College, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa.
