League of Women Voters Luncheon

‘Shop and Support for Mercy House’
The We Olive shop in The OC Mart Mix at the South Coast Collection (SOCO), 3313 Hyland Ave., Suite C, Costa Mesa, is sponsoring an evening event thee featuring music and food trucks, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. We Olive will send a percentage of proceeds from the event to Mercy House, nonprofit striving to help the homeless. Admission for the event is $15, and includes a drink ticket that can be redeemed at We Olive & Wine Bar.

‘Richard Rex’
Orange Coast College presents a staged reading of “Richard Rex,” a satire written by OCC theater arts instructor David Scaglione that blends elements of Oedipus Rex with aspects of Richard Nixon’s presidency. The free readings will be given at 7:30 p.m. in the Drama Lab Theatre at OCC, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa.

Holiday Meals for the Hungry
Members of the Roosters Foundation and volunteers will be packing holiday food baskets destined for 3,500 needy families in Orange County. One Hundred and Two members of the Roosters Foundation have invested close to $80,000 by supplying each of these families with the following provisions that will go into each basket, and will be distributed to them by 48 other O.C. nonprofits. Volunteers will be assembling at 9 a.m. on Sunday to fill the baskets with the food items and toys at The Second Harvest Bank Food Warehouse, 8014 Marine Way, Irvine. ‘Christmas on the Coast’
The Orange County Women’s Chorus will give two performances of “Christmas on the Coast,” a program of holiday songs by local composers. The first performance will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 23802 Avenida de la Carlota, Laguna Hills, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Newport Harbor Lutheran Church, 798 Dover Drive, Newport Beach.
