Philharmonic announces revenue surplus
The Philharmonic Society of Orange County announced this week that it ended the 2011-12 fiscal year with a nearly $16,000 unaudited surplus.
The Irvine-based nonprofit reported having a total revenue of about $4.18 million.
The news was released during the organization’s annual meeting at the Soka Performing Arts Center, which it will use as a performance venue for the first time in the 2012-13 season. The 1,000-seat hall in Aliso Viejo opened in September.
The financial report also came at the end of a season that featured a busy visiting lineup of internationally acclaimed orchestras from throughout the United States, Russia and England.
Also during the meeting, the nonprofit elected new members to its board and reviewed the 2012-13 season, which begins in October and includes performances by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Itzhak Perlman, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony.
