Pet of the Week

For those people who love white and orange kitties, Community Animal Network has several available. Happy (pictured) is a teenage kitten who was rescued from Disneyland and is seeking a home with someone who has another kitty who would like to play. Happy’s siblings found homes in pairs, and Happy misses someone to play with.

There are many benefits to having more than one kitty. Animals who live with other kitties get more exercise and can avoid obesity, which lowers the risk of feline diabetes. Kitties living with a friend who is an “equal-energy playmate” of the same age are happier living indoors, and most have less interest in escaping. Our homes can be boring for active young animals.

Young kittens who are adopted into homes with older senior cats can become bullies. If cats are allowed outdoors, many become lost and can have shorter lives than indoor pets, becoming prey or being hit by a car.
