Veterans Administration Officer Frank Sellers was the keynote speaker, informing the audience of how important it is for veterans and their families to be aware of the many benefits available to them and know how to obtain them.

Representatives from the police and fire departments also made presentations, as did representatives from the Moms of Military support group and Habitat for Humanity, which makes a special effort to help veterans in need obtain a home of their own.

Auxiliary members provided refreshments after the program. As noted by one of the attendees, it was a wonderful event, a real hometown celebration with friends and family.

The veterans appreciated all the support and the attendance of so many to help celebrate this national holiday.

DAVE CONNELL is vice commander of American Legion Post 222 and a Laguna Beach resident.
