Retail Therapy: Don’t miss out on a free Slurpee

Slush rush: Celebrate 7/11 by getting a free small Slurpee from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at all participating 7/11 stores. My annual recommendation: Try the Coca-Cola flavor with just a hint of cherry.

Pillow talk: Longtime Costa Mesa-based home textiles retailer Anna’s Linens is going out of business. As of press time, deals are up to 30% at all stores; keep an eye out over the coming weeks for increasing discounts at all of its more than 300 stores. Information and locations: annaslinens.com.

Seymour films: The Segerstrom Center for the Arts, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa, is kicking off its summer of free outdoor films Monday with “Little Shop of Horrors,” beginning at dusk (approximately 8 p.m.) on the Arts Plaza. Movie Mondays will continue with “Pitch Perfect” on July 20, “The Sandlot” on July 27, “My Best Friend’s Wedding” on Aug. 3, and “E.T.” on Aug. 10.

Bring a low chair or blanket, as well as snacks or a picnic. Food trucks will be serving onsite as well and family activities are scheduled before each show. Information: SCFTA.org/MovieMondays.

The hot light is on: Krispy Kreme’s 78th birthday Friday will be celebrated with a promo: buy a dozen doughnuts and get another dozen (all original glazed) for 78 cents, at participating locations. Information: krispykreme.com/78thOffer.

Festival fun: The Laguna summer arts festivals are back, and that means great opportunities for an entire day out. The Festival of Arts will host local rockabilly legend Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday; blues band Missiles of October from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday; David Correa and Cascada’s world music from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday; and the John Proulx Trio performing jazz from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Events are free with festival admission; reserved seating for the Lee Rocker show is available for $25, which also includes festival admission. Information: (800) 487-3378.

The weekend also will include a ceramic wall art workshop for adults and teens with Monica Dunham, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, for $60 per person. (Students will return to finish their fired projects on July 25.) Kids ages 5 to 12 are invited to their own Youth Arts Education Workshops weekdays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.; classes are $10 to $20 per session. Information: LagunaFestivalofArts.org.
