Retail Therapy: It’s Mother’s day again

Fresh and fun: Join more than 2,000 locals in celebrating the 36th anniversary of Mother’s Market and Kitchen from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at its Santa Ana store, 151 E. Memory Lane. The free family-friendly event will feature oldies band Full Spectrum, a balloon artist, a face painter, drawings and product samples. The event is free and open to the public. On Purpose: Local nonprofit International Sanctuary, which helps those rescued from human trafficking and other forms of modern slavery, is launching its new Purpose handcrafted jewelry line at a party from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 1 at the House of Blues, 1530 S. Disneyland Drive, Anaheim. Enjoy bites and sips, live music, raffles and more at this free public event while viewing the new collection, which is made by trafficking survivors. Around the world: The 2014 Irvine Global Village Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Bill Barber Park, 4 Civic Center Plaza. Enjoy live entertainment, foods, crafts, kids’ activities, exhibits and more from across the globe. Admission is free; food tastes are $1 to $3 each. Total eclipse of the heart: The Orange Coast College Astronomy Department, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa, will host a free viewing of a total lunar eclipse from roughly 2 to 5 a.m. Oct. 8. The school will provide telescopes, but the eclipse will be visible to anyone with a view of the sky. The eclipse will reach totality shortly after 3 a.m., with visibility best between 3:30 and 5 a.m. It will be visible as a “blood moon,” taking on an orange or red shade. Parking will be free in lot E, known as the Merrimac Lot, between Fairview Road and Harbor Boulevard. Information: orangecoastcollege.edu.
