Begira is among the shelter’s three dozen healthy felines currently seeking new homes. During October, adoption fees for all cats will be discounted 25%.

Begira’s exotic name befits his Bombay mixed heritage. The Bombay breed is known for a mellow temperament — Begira is calm and affectionate — and an almost dog-like nature. In fact, Begira is shown wearing a soft harness, and he enjoys walking on a leash. He even likes being brushed.

At the recent Huntington Beach City Council meeting, his bright eyes and handsome coat attracted considerable attention. However, studies show that black cats — and dogs — in shelters often have a more difficult time getting noticed and, thus, adopted. Begira is a year old and neutered and weighs about 10 pounds.
