Four arrested on suspicion of stealing bikes

Four Santa Ana residents were arrested Monday on suspicion for stealing bikes on the Balboa Peninsula, according to police.

At 2:15 a.m. Monday, police spotted four men loading five beach cruisers into the bed of a pickup truck, according to a news release from the Newport Beach Police Department.

Three still had locks on their frame, the release said.

The suspects were arrested near 10th Street and West Balboa Boulevard after a resident who spotted suspicious activity called police.

Javier Aguilar, 21, Juan Vergara, 20, and two 17-year-old boys were those arrested in connection with the crime.
