School district to have online safety presentation
Families can stay up to date on how to keep their kids safe online with a special presentation Wednesday.
The Newport-Mesa Unified School District is offering all families a Cyber Smart presentation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Education Center, 2985 Bear St., Costa Mesa.
The event will feature guest speakers, including a crime-prevention specialist with the Newport Beach police and a community consultant to explain how parents can protect their children online with different monitoring and filtering options.
Spanish translation will be available.
The event previews the district’s Cyber Smart Weeks, which begin Monday and run through Nov. 4.
Parents can access resources and check out the student curriculum provided by Common Sense Media at web.nmusd.us/cybersmart.
