Students can donate Halloween treats to troops
Mini Snickers and Kit Kat bars, bite-sized Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and lollipops are the hard-earned treasures of Halloween.
While kids make the door-to-door rounds to earn their prizes, some are having no trouble giving it away— for a good cause, that is.
A number of schools in the Newport-Mesa school district are collecting Halloween candy from students to donate to the troops.
“This is a great opportunity to do something good, protect your teeth and make life a bit sweeter for our troops overseas,” said Holly Schuman, Corona del Mar High School’s PTA vice president of membership in an email to all CdM PTA members.
Still have Halloween candy left? Donate it to the troops by dropping it off at two local orthodontist offices, or check with your school to see if it is holding a collection.
Dr. John DiGiovanni, a Newport Beach-based orthodontist, is collecting candy from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at his office, 1401 Avocado Ave., Suite 204.
The office is closed for lunch between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and on Nov. 9, 14 and 21. Candy can be also dropped off at the office’s Laguna Beach location, 1166 Glenneyre St., during the same times.
