Pretrial for former bouncers postponed

The pretrial for two former bouncers charged with assaulting a customer at Hurricanes Bar & Grill has been moved to Sept. 29.

Ivan Alvarez, 23, of Garden Grove and Jakob Taylor, 22, of Costa Mesa were scheduled for pretrial Tuesday at West Justice Center in Westminster, but the hearing was postponed to give attorneys on both sides time to look at evidence, Deputy District Attorney Vickie Schneider said.

In addition to the pretrial, Alvarez and Taylor are scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 20.

Alvarez and Taylor pleaded not guilty in July. The alleged victim, Trevor Parrington, has also filed a lawsuit against them and Hurricanes over the November incident, claiming the bouncers assaulted him without provocation and that the restaurant negligently trained and supervised its security guards.
