Man flees after allegedly hitting other vehicle
COSTA MESA — Police arrested a driver Thursday after he allegedly hit another vehicle and fled.
Allen Brown, 30, of Costa Mesa, rear-ended a vehicle in the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Gisler Avenue about 12:15 p.m., said Sgt. Zach Hoferitza.
Brown fled the scene in his vehicle and the other car gave chase but lost Brown after a few blocks, the sergeant said.
Officers found Brown parked in an alley behind Mace Avenue. He identified himself and turned himself over to the officers, Hoferitza said.
Brown told officers that he had fled the scene because he panicked and was driving on a suspended license, Hoferitza said.
He was arrested on misdemeanor counts of hit-and-run, driving on a suspended license and for an outstanding warrant for unpaid traffic violations.
He was booked and released the same day on a written promise to appear, Hoferitza said.
Brown was not intoxicated at the time of the incident.
