Chili connoisseurs brought — and savored — the heat Saturday during the latest Halecrest Park chili cook-off in Costa Mesa.

Visitors were able to treat their taste buds on a selection of chili recipes, cool off with some other refreshments and rock out to live music from the band Dead End Road.

The annual community event is held at Halecrest Park, a roughly 5-acre private facility at 3107 Killybrooke Lane that includes a playground, swimming pools and courts for various sports.
