The Huntington Beach Public Library opened its new Makerspace on Saturday, offering virtual reality, laser engraving, 3-D printing and more.

The Makerspace, housed at the Central Library at 7111 Talbert Ave., also is equipped with a green screen, a Cricut Maker for die cutting, a LittleBits Code Kit for experimenting with coding, and sewing equipment including sewing machines, a serger and a button maker.

Hours are 2 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

All Makerspace visitors younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and no one younger than 8 is allowed, according to the library.

Makerspace users must have a library card and complete an orientation before using 3-D printers, sewing machines, the Cricut Maker and some other equipment.
