Diedre Nguyen has moved slightly ahead of incumbent Tyler Diep in the race to face Janet Nguyen for Diep’s 72nd District seat in the state Assembly in November, according to updated vote totals from the March 3 primary election.

Diedre Nguyen (D-Garden Grove) was 208 votes ahead of Diep (R-Westminster) in an update posted at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday by the Orange County registrar of voters office, which plans its next update at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The top two vote-getters in that and three other local races for state and federal offices will advance to the general election Nov. 3.
