A full week of mass gatherings and protests has not yet shown a significant impact on Orange County coronavirus infections or deaths, as health officials reported 113 cases of the coronavirus on Monday and no new deaths.

Figures released by the Orange County Public Health agency showed a marked decline from the nearly 300 cases recorded Friday and 271 on Saturday. The county’s current death toll remains static at 177, with 85 of those deaths occurring in skilled nursing facilities.

Reports indicate that among the 7,527 infections recorded so far, more than 44% — about 3,326 people — have recovered from the virus. Approximately 291 people were being hospitalized from the virus Monday, including 135 receiving treatment in ICU units.
