Three men were arrested Thursday in Huntington Beach on suspicion of grand theft and resisting or obstructing a peace officer after a pursuit that ended near Edinger Avenue and Fortuna Lane.

Huntington Beach police said that, in working with local businesses to prevent theft, detectives received a tip from a local business of a potential theft in advance of the incident. At around 2:30 p.m., officers in a helicopter witnessed a man steal thousands of dollars in cash and valuables from a vehicle in the parking lot of a business.

Officers followed the suspect, who then jumped into a waiting vehicle that sped off. A short pursuit then ended near Edinger and Fortuna when the vehicle crashed and the three men fled on foot.
