Garden Grove man arrested on suspicion of bank robbery in Fountain Valley
A 45-year-old Garden Grove man was arrested on suspicion of robbing a bank in Fountain Valley Friday morning, according to authorities.
Police said the suspect, identified as Jose Luis Gomez, allegedly handed a note to a bank teller at the Bank of America branch on Brookhurst Street, demanding an unspecified amount of money. The teller handed over money, then triggered a silent alarm.
Another employee witnessed the robbery and called police. Fountain Valley Police Department officers responded at about 10:30 a.m. Friday. The suspect was found inside his vehicle near the bank.
The money was returned and no one was harmed, police said.
Fountain Valley Capt. Tony Luce said officials are not releasing the exact dollar amount involved. Jail and court records, as of Friday afternoon, did not indicate if charges had been filed against Gomez.
