The next Newport Beach City Council candidates forum will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the event center for the OASIS Senior Center, 801 Narcissus Ave.

It’s the second candidates forum for this year’s upcoming election, wherein four of the seven seats on the dais are up for election or reelection in November.

At least three of those seats are being vacated by their current incumbents — Mayor Kevin Muldoon, Councilwoman Diane Dixon and Councilman Marshall “Duffy” Duffield. Councilwoman Joy Brenner is running for reelection in District 6, which represents Corona del Mar.

District 3, which represents the neighborhoods surrounding upper Newport Bay, looks to be the most competitive race with three candidates running for office: Weigand, Amy Peters and Jim Mosher.

Joe Stapleton and Tom Miller are competing for votes in District 1, which represents the Balboa Peninsula and West Newport Beach.

Brenner is also running for reelection against fellow candidate Lauren Kleiman. Robyn Grant runs unopposed in District 4, which represents the Eastbluff and Bonita Canyon neighborhoods.

Newport Beach council members represent districts but are voted in at large.

A third candidates forum will be hosted by the Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce on Sept. 8. Election Day is Nov. 8.
