The Newport Bay Conservancy is hosting a Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Volunteers will meet at a dozen different cleanup sites around the 11-mile bay. Those interested are encouraged to sign up at coastal-cleanup-day-unb.eventbrite.com.

In an effort to encourage volunteers, Laventina’s Big Cheese Pizza is offering a free slice to those who preregister for the event under the company’s name, “Laventina’s,” to be grouped in a specific area for proof of support.

Hoag to offer free flu shots at upcoming health fairs

Hoag will be offering complimentary flu shots to adults 18 and older at its Flu Shot Health Fairs throughout Orange County. Registration is required and can be accomplished online at flu.hoag.org.

All of the upcoming fairs will take place from 8 a.m. to noon on their respective dates. The first will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Hoag Health Center Irvine Sand Canyon, 16405 Sand Canyon Ave., Irvine. The next is set for Saturday, Sept. 24, at Hoag Health Center Huntington Beach, 19582 Beach Blvd., Huntington Beach, and the final fair will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Hoag Health Center Tustin Legacy, 15000 Kensington Park Drive, Tustin.

Newport Beach election forums coming up

This Sunday, Next-Up Newport and Still Protecting Our Newport — also known as SPON — will host a candidates forum for the Newport Beach City Council race at the Harbor View Homes Clubhouse.

The forum is expected to begin at 4 p.m. and end at around 6 p.m.

Also upcoming is the Newport Heights Community Assn.’s candidates forum at the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Youth Center on Monday, Sept. 12. That forum is expected to begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue until 7:30 p.m.

Speak Up Newport will host its Newport Beach City Council candidates forum on Sept. 14.

The program will begin at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center Community Room.

All candidates are expected to attend. The forum will also be livestreamed on Zoom.

Faith Driven Entrepreneur Global Watch Party set for Sept. 28

A one-day virtual conference, the 2022 Global Watch Party of the Faith Driven Entrepreneur movement, will take place Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and can be participated in locally at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 600 St. Andrews Road, Newport Beach.

Investors and entrepreneurs from around the globe will take part, according to organizers, who report the conference will be streamed from Nairobi, Kenya to more than 300 cities and over 50 different countries.

Halloween boutique open at Roger’s Gardens

Roger’s Gardens in Corona del Mar has opened its 2022 Halloween boutique.

Visitors will find four curated themed boutiques featuring decorations through the holiday. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Roger’s Gardens is located at 2301 San Joaquin Hills Road.

Blood drive planned in Newport Beach

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 291 is hosting a blood drive with the American Red Cross at its banquet hall, 215 15th St., Newport Beach, on Monday, Oct. 10.
