Police reported an uptick in DUI arrests over Labor Day weekend compared to last year.

There were 27 arrests from Aug. 31 through Monday, down from 32 in 2011, Capt. Jason Kravetz said in an email. However, of those arrests, 15 were DUIs, compared to 11 last year.

Calls for service saw a decrease — there were 602 calls for service, while 742 were reported in 2011, he said.

Reported traffic collisions went up by one, with eight reports total. There was also an increase in hit-and-run collisions, which went up to seven from three in 2011.
