Philanthropic group to be honored in November

Laguna Niguel-based HeARTS for Healing Guild will be honored at the National Philanthropy Day Orange County celebration in November.

It has been chosen as an outstanding philanthropic group for its efforts in advocating and raising money for community art programs to help people dealing with abuse, illness or grief.

The 22 guild members in May raised $42,000 to support Art & Creativity for Healing, Inc., and in 2010, they hosted a Girls’ Night Out that raised $16,000 for its art programs.

The guild also works with military service members and hosted an art supply drive that benefited Camp Pendleton’s San Onofre Elementary School.

The group will be among the honorees from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Garden Grove.
