New park with a view

City officials dedicated a new open space area, the Arch Beach Heights View Park, at noon on Monday.

The neighborhood-serving park, which cost $450,000 to develop, begins at the intersection of Quivera and Cortez, and features walking areas and wonderful views. The park encompasses many small 2,500 square foot lots which the City acquired over the last 30 years, according to City Manager Ken Frank.

Green Horizons Landscape Company was the contractor for the project, including design, permits and construction. Because of budget limitations, a stairway connecting the new trail to lower Arch Beach Heights was excluded from the current construction but is expected to be built in the future, Frank stated in a press release.
