Chamber of Commerce names Spirit nominees

The Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce board of directors has announced the nominees for the annual Spirit of Laguna Awards.

The nominees, solicited from the public, are as follows:

Business of the Year: Madison Square & Garden Cafe; Surf & Sand Resort; Mozambique Steakhouse.

Volunteer of the Year: Rosanne Nitti; JoBeth Prud’homme; Annette Malinowski; Justin In’tVeld.

Citizen of the Year: Mark Christy; Joan Gladstone; Elizabeth Pearson.

Retail Store of the Year: The Vault; Jasmine Street General Store; Pearl Street General Store; The T-Shirt Company.

Nonprofit of the Year: Laguna Beach Seniors at the Susi Q; Rescuing Unwanted Furry Friends, or R.U.F.F.; Assistance League; Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach.

Building Industry of the Year: Burge Corporation; ValleyCrest Landscape Companies; Blazing Hammers.

Green Enterprise of the Year: Waste Management; City of Laguna Beach; South Coast Water District.

City Professional of the Year: Assistant City Manager Christa Johnson; Deputy City Manager Ben Siegel; Associate Planner Wendy Jung.

Restaurant of the Year: Ocean View Bar & Grill; Broadway by Amar Santana; Nick’s Laguna Beach; Starfish Laguna Beach.

Professional Service of the Year: Laguna Beach Legal; Fat Box Films; The UPS Store; Marshall Ininns Design.

Government Official of the Year: City Councilman Kelly Boyd; District 5 Supervisor Lisa Bartlett.

Gallery of the Year: Laguna Gallery of Contemporary Art; Ruth Mayer Fine Art; Peter Blake Gallery.

Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce: The group will announce its board member of the year.

Board members will cast votes and category winners will be announced at a 6 p.m. reception Jan. 23 at [seven-degrees], 891 Laguna Canyon Road.
