The Prius, driven by a 19-year-old Laguna Beach man, and Colvin were traveling north on North Coast Highway, and the bicyclist was riding on the right side of the road, Kravetz said.

Callers told police that the driver of the Prius fled the scene and stopped in El Morro Elementary School’s parking lot. Police have not released the name of the driver, who was not arrested or cited, Kravetz said.

Colvin was taken to Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach before being transported to Western Medical Center.

The accident is under investigation.
