Moulton Meadows field closed through August

A soccer field at Moulton Meadows Park in Laguna Beach will be closed through August so crews can replace turf, according to a city news release.

Fencing around the field was scheduled to go up Friday, the release said. Replacing the grass, which will help with drainage, is one of several improvements to the 360,000-square-foot park, assistant city engineer Mark Trestik has said.

Once the lawn area reopens, other portions of the park will be closed through September for various renovation projects, including the installation of new stationary fitness equipment and replacement of an irrigation system.

The City Council approved a $1.5-million construction contract last month for the work at Moulton Meadows and Lang Park, in South Laguna.

Lang will receive new picnic tables and walkway lights, and a concrete sidewalk will be widened.
